COVID-19 — Grace Lutheran’s response — NO IN PERSON GATHERINGS OR WORSHIP UNTIL APRIL 30TH! Worship continues online!!

UPDATE 4/1/20: NO IN PERSON GATHERINGS OR WORSHIP UNTIL APRIL 30TH! Worship continues online!!

Dear Members and Friends of Grace,

Given the unknowns about Coronavirus/Covid-19 pandemic and the guidelines being recommended by the ELCA, Metro-Chicago Synod, the state and Federal health authorities, we made the difficult decision to suspend all in-person gatherings of Grace Lutheran Church of Lily Lake — including regular Sunday Worship, mid-week Lenten Soup and Sustenance gatherings, Sunday School, Bible Studies and large gatherings over the next 3 weeks.

As you know, like many ELCA congregations, Grace skews older and as a group that makes us more vulnerable.  Additionally, we have multiple members who are exhibiting flu-like symptoms and will be self-quarantining themselves until they are well or have clearer answers.

It is our Christian calling to care for each other and the community around us to the best of our ability and we have chosen to err on the side of caution.  We will be monitoring this situation closely and act appropriately to keep our community as healthy as possible, making changes as become necessary.  We will also seek ways to communicate God’s love in this unusual time.  We will communicate as best we possibly can.  We invite you to stay informed and connected with leadership as well.

As we live with this reality, and seek to care for each other as best as possible as at the heart of being a faith-filled community, I and the Grace Leadership encouraging us all to stay connected as best as possible.  To that end, we will have Sunday’s bulletin on our website along with additional prayers.  Pastor Dawn will be calling each family to check in on you and we also will be giving out links for other churches that stream their services, (which we will try to do soon also).

Also, we encourage you to watch your email for a short video message from Pastor available by Sunday morning.  and to pray, for those ill, their families, for governments and leaders, and for healthcare systems and people all over the globe.

God is in our midst and is our stronghold and hope.  You are in my prayers.  Please feel free to contact me or our leadership with any questions and concerns in this time.  847-331-0373.

God’s blessings,                                                                                                                                                                                        Pastor Dawn Roucka

Eternal god, Amid all the turmoil and changes of this world, we thank You for your steadfast love and your strength that never fails.  In this time of danger, be our sure guardian and rock.  Guide the leaders of all nations with your wisdom, comfort those in distress and grant us courage and hope to face the future, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.
