Advent has begun and Christmas will soon be here.
Grace has been decorated and we have so many things going on.
As we informed everyone in a post a few week’s ago, since Christmas Eve is falling on a Sunday, we have very special worship times that are not what you’re used to seeing on Christmas Eve at Grace. There will only be a 9am worship service in the morning celebrating the last Sunday in Advent. Then we’ll have a Christmas Celebration Service at church at 4pm and last, a Christmas Eve Barn Service at the Anderson Farm at 7pm. Locations and times can also be found on our events page
We also have the wonderful ELCA Good Gifts – God’s Global Barnyard tree this year. Each ornament has a price tag and what that item purchases on a farm. In much less fortunate areas of the world, one simple animal can provide so much for a family and community. Last year, Grace was able to raise enough money to supply a whole farm (chickens, pig, goats, etc.). The Rebecca Circle hopes to do the same or more this year.
Last, we have our Giving Tree. Every year we have a tree in our sanctuary with ornaments with a child’s name and the gifts they want for Christmas. All the children are from the Elgin Community Crisis Center who are not as fortunate to receive toys, games, books, and more that they may want or wish for at Christmas. So you can take 1 name or many names and purchase these items for them to help provide them with a happy and merry Christmas. The center always needs donations of hats and gloves, for both kids and adults. So we decorate the tree with them to be donated as well.
We hope you can take part in many of the worship, donating, sharing, and social opportunities we have this Christmas season!
